The Blue Mountains Public Library is presenting a retrospective exhibition of works by Willi Wildman, “The Life and Art Of Willi Wildman.”
A prolific painter, instructor and an active volunteer at the L.E. Shore Memorial Library, Wildman welcomed new and experienced artists to her Thornbury Studio where ideas, laughter, soup and wine were often shared in a salon setting.
Born in Amsterdam in 1942, Wildman studied visual arts at the University of Ottawa and worked as a photojournalist before moving to Southern Georgian Bay. Over the past four decades, Wildman became influential in the development of the art scene in Collingwood and the Blue Mountains as she worked to develop forums for local artists to showcase their work. She died in March 2022.
The exhibition will include dozens of Wildman’s paintings from various private collections. Many of the works were inspired by her life along the shores of Georgian Bay.
The exhibition in the gallery of the L.E. Shore Memorial Library will open with a reception on April 29 between 2 and 4 p.m. The exhibition continues until May 31.
