Friends and family of owner Carrie McLean-Godman celebrated the opening of Simcoe Street’s latest gallery addition, Studio Ciel, on January 27. Champagne and charcuterie flowed as guests admired the array of dazzling art.

Paws for the Cause
It was another day of winter fun at the Craigleith Ski Club for the Georgian Triangle Humane Society’s second annual Ski For Pets fundraiser on February 1. Friends and donors hit the slopes while the Jenny Howes Duo entertained guests for the furtastic après-ski.

Having a Blast
Desmond Von Teichman and the team from Royal LePage Locations North hosted the 39th Annual Winter Extravaganza to benefit Hospice Georgian Triangle and the Royal LePage Shelter Foundation at Craigleith Ski Club on February 8. Supporters enjoyed a day of winter fun in the sun, gourmet treats and après-ski.

Model Citizens
Five individuals were named to the Order of Collingwood at the Mayor’s New Year’s Levee at the Georgian Bay Hotel on January 14. Honoured for their exceptional contribution and volunteer efforts to the community, the recipients of the 2023 award were Susan Brindisi, Doug Linton, D. Barry Manchester, Paulina Monette and Mark Rich. Sheila Stewart received the Companion to the Order of Collingwood. In addition to the award ceremony, the event featured a musical performance by award-winning youth singer/songwriter Kendall Lily and a reading by Collingwood Poet Laureate Jillian Morris.

Escarpment Corridor Alliance Summit
The Escarpment Corridor Alliance (ECA) hosted a summit at the Gayety Theatre, presenting photographer and filmmaker Edward Burtynsky as a keynote speaker, on September 23. Attendees viewed an exhibition of Burtynsky’s work, film screenings and panel discussions, all in support of preserving and protecting the Niagara Escarpment of Southern Georgian Bay.
