End of summer, traditionally, marks the start of fundraising season. And what a great time around the Bay to host an event for a good cause! Collingwood was abuzz with events and On The Bay magazine was there to capture it all.

Collingwood General & Marine Hospital Foundation kicked off the season with its signature gala Into the Woods, Saturday, Aug. 28. Sotheby’s realtor Joseph Pugliese, and Dr. Michael Lisi, chief of staff at CGMH, were amongst the guests treated to surprise delights at a secret location transformed into an enchanted forest. The gala raised $475,000 to help fund a new CT scanner.

From the outside, the home has a somewhat barn-like structure – a signature of architectural designer Jim Campbell – with pre-finished, stained wood cladding topped by a standing seam metal roof.

No fundraising season is complete without a rockin’ concert! The Collingwood Brewery played host to Escarpment Fest, Saturday, Sept. 10, in support of the Escarpment Corridor Alliance. Guests rocked out to the sounds of local bands while raising funds and awareness to protect our beautiful region.

On Friday, Sept. 24, Hospice Georgian Triangle Foundation raised $400,000 at their annual Care Gala, in support of hospice palliative care. Donations made by guests were matched up to $100,000 by Collingwood resident Ricki Thompson. The sold-out elegant evening, held at Blue Mountain Resort, attracted 300 guests and included a live auction, raffle and dancing to a live eight-piece band.
