The Cheese Gallery is excited to bring back The Big Cheese Smackdown, a friendly but serious grilled cheese sandwich competition. This year, more than 20 of the region’s favourite restaurants are challenging each other by putting their own twist on the traditional, comfort food favourite. The event was first created two years ago to stimulate sales and get the digestive juices flowing during the shoulder season.
“We needed something in April that’s fun for the community, get people out and about visiting different locations, it was a huge hit” says Casey Thomson owner operator of the Cheese Gallery in Thornbury. Now, the smack down is back, the winner will be decided by popular vote. Ballots will be available for customers to rank each location’s sandwich. “The Big Cheese” will be crowned at the end of April.
Gouda luck to all of the participants.
